Pet Portrait Specialist
As a subject matter, I have focused on one of my great loves - Cats. I admire their spirit and individuality, enjoying the challenge of capturing their looks and personality in my fine detailed paintings. Through this work I have built up a reputation as a specialist in Pet Portraits. These subjects are painted in watercolour, which are made up of many layers, starting with a wash and then building up to the final layer (using a 2 or 3 hair brush!) which entails finely detailed brushstrokes to capture the texture of the animal's fur etc.

If you are interested in commissioning a painting of your pet, please email Mandy Bunn for further details, via the Contacts page.

Artistic Philosophy
I have become fascinated by the radiance of colour which is a large part of my work and I am drawn to certain colours depending on my feelings at the time. I want to reflect the vibrancy of life through my artwork and transfer that feeling through my paintings to those who view them. Colour is all around us, I am enthralled by it's beauty and spectrum. Colour is a language and has a vocabulary all of it's own. Colour can communicate so much to us : atmosphere and ambiance, or emphasize a feeling, emotion or state of mind. An artist has complete control over the colour palette to create and manipulate so much within their paintings.

Artistic Style
I currently work in acrylic, watercolour & water-soluble coloured pencils and with each medium, I build up many layers to create visual strength, depth of colour, the linear quality & movement of each brushstroke and intense minute detail. The love I have for what I do and the person that I am, creates a continual need in me to explore my talent to its limits. I change my subject matter regularly, depending on my mood and what inspires me at the time as I intrinsically like change and challenge. Inspiration comes from things large and small, fleeting glimpses of colours and the world around me. Joy is derived from approaching a new subject with fresh eyes and an eager heart.
